July favourites

Here are the products/things I've been using and loving throughout July.

Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain:
Gorgeously rich and shiny colours, a mixture of a highly pigmented lipstick and a high-shine gloss. I love the packaging, love the contents even more. They feel moisturising and look lovely and super vibrant on. I've got two colours but will be buying more!

Sally Hansen Gem Crush nail colour in 05 Be-Jeweled:
Love this polish. It's a mixture of super fine glitter and slighter bigger round sparkle. It almost looks slightly mat, wears pretty well. I've been wearing it non-stop for the past few weeks and often get comments on it. A great summer colour.

The Beauty Blender:
Yes, yes, I'm *very* late to the party with this one but better late than never, right? I love how this magical make-up sponge makes my concealer look. I'm not getting a great deal of sleep (7 week old baby fun) so my daily use of under eye concealer has increased massively. This sponge stops it looking cakey, smooths and sheers it out without losing the coverage. Plus it feels gooood, you all know what I mean!

Ultrasun suncream in factor 30:
This stuff is seriously good, serrrriously good. You bung it on once and you're good to go all day long. It's perfume and preservative free but the best thing is that it actually feels like a moisturiser going on. It sinks in quick and once it's on there's no greasy/oily/sticky residue. My daughter loves it (I use the factor 50 on her and she doesn't complain when it's time to cream-up). A really lovely product and totally worth the slightly higher price point.

Palmer's Firming Butter:
After having a baby I'll pretty much give anything a go to get my "old" body back. I love cocoa butter so this totally grabbed my attention with it's "firms and tones" promises. Does it actually firm and tone? To be honest, I haven't really noticed.... probably not, I mean it's only £4.85. It's not a miracle product but it's lightweight, sinks in quickly, smells nice and leaves my skin soft and smooth. It's pretty cheap and a nice summer way of using cocoa butter, which is often thick and greasy.... Plus if I use enough maybe it will actually firm and tone! An excellent budget buy.

Frozen Grapes:
Okay, pretty random but stay with me. These aren't a July fave but an all year round fave in my house.
Get some grapes, wash them, put them in a bowl/container and stick them in the freezer. Over-night is best. You've then got yourself individual balls of grape sorbet-like goodness. Try it. Please. You won't regret it. It sounds strange but it is really *really* good. Totally hits the spot when you fancy a sweet treat. Great for the summer. Stops me reaching for higher calorie snacks. Yum. (If you're going to give these to children please be careful as they can be quite hard....).

Hope you've enjoyed reading about my July Faves, go check them out!

Fabulous finds - A problem solved....

I've stumbled apon a simple yet genius product that I absolutely love.... The Turbie Twist! Ta-da!

Please excuse my make-up free face/enormous bags (yes, I have a 7 week old baby).

So, what is the Turbie Twist? It's basically a hair towel that stays in place. You bung it on whilst your head is upside down, twist the tail end and secure it at the back via an elastic loop. It holds all my hair in place and really doesn't come off until I want it to. It's a great shape and fits all my (thick) pretty longish hair snuggle inside.

It's great for wet hair, but also pretty perfect for keeping dry hair out of the way to do your make-up without causing kinks.

I think these would make super gifts. It's one of those things you didn't realise how much you needed it until you have one.

I got mine from QVC (no, I'm not 63). They come in 3 colours, and you get four for under £20. They also come in individual cute organza bags too. I will definitely be buying more to store for Xmas (it's only 5 months away people!! Ha!).

They also fit on my daughters head too, until now it's been virtually impossible to get a towel to stay on her forever moving head.

A great product, pretty decent gift and a big thumbs up from me.

Too cute to eat?

My dad has just come back from a mini break to Switzerland. He didn't return empty handed, (he's been taught well)... he picked up this incredible Lindt frog prince for my daughter... How cute is he?!

It's one of those things where you contemplate not actually eating due to its ridiculous adorability before coming to your senses, ripping off the wrapper and stuffing it in your mouth in one go.

I love Lindt, but love Lindt chocolate frog princes even more.

One beautiful blush

There's nothing nicer than a pretty product and this gorgeous blush from Hourglass ticks all the boxes.

I've had my eye on the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blushes for a while. I really liked the idea of a colour combined with a lighting powder and I'm pleased to say my choice of 'Ethereal Glow' did not disappoint. There are 6 stunning colours to choose from, I opted for the lightest with the idea of using it as a combined highlighter and blush in one.

The packing is lovely, a good sized mirror. The blush itself makes you want to reach out and touch it. It's velvety smooth. It applies beautifully. It doesn't last all day however it's such a pleasure to apply I don't mind having to re-touch!

Is it worth £28? Well, probably yes. There's a lot of product packed in and let's face it, it's so blimin' lovely to look at. You could skip the highlighter with this blusher no problem at all.

Would I repurchase, yes, however I would probably opt for a more vibrant colour next time. My choice of Ethereal Glow is definitely more ambient lighting powder than a colourful blush.... I have been using a blush and then blending this on top, concentrating on the tops of my cheek bones.

After using this product I am now very tempted to try their Ambient Lighting Powders... Watch this space!

About Emma

Hi there and welcome to my new blog - The Daily Rumble.

I'm Emma Rumble - a 30 something(!) beauty-product-obsessed, shopaholic mum of two! I love watching YouTube beauty gurus who have inspired me to start my own blog. Maybe one day I’ll take the leap to YouTube myself. Maybe....

My blog is mixture of daily thoughts, findings & reviews from favourite products, new finds, monthly favourites, products I've used up, must haves and must avoids!

As a working mum of two the amount of spare time I have for myself is slim to nil, however I think it's super important to really try and make time for yourself... even if it's just 5 minutes a day.
To take the time to apply a splash of make-up, to accessorize, to light a candle at home, to buy some flowers - these small things really make a huge difference and can make you feel put together - even when that new top has baby milk spit up over one shoulder and it takes 4 layers on concealer to attempt to cover your dark eye bags!
